Play (2010-2014)
I fabricate whimsical robot-like creatures out of cold- assembled cast and blown glass parts. Steel elements commonly act as armature and connections for playful glass wheels and curious appendages. These mechanical-looking objects are personified by playing with the composition of separate elements to cohesively bring together an object that has a life and a narrative. I am attracted to robots as subject matter because there are no boundaries when making a fantasized being. Parts can be juxtaposed, interchanged and played with-just like a real child’s toy when creating. The goal of these figments is to entice, excite, and pique the interest of humans as they identify with these creatures of curiosity through a connection between the eluded emotion or action and themselves.
